Journée GIMB 2025 – Ready for life

On 24 October 2025, this year's Journée GIMB ‘Gesond Iessen, Méi Beweegen’ took place at the Macher Lycée.

The inspiring day for professionals, decision-makers and stakeholders from the fields of nutrition, health, education, social affairs and sport met with great interest, and the Salle des Fêtes was packed accordingly!

GIMB has been in existence since 2006. At that time, four ministries decided to join forces to promote a healthier and more active lifestyle in Luxembourg. CO CONCEPT has been supporting the four ministries since 2016, when we undertook the first evaluation of the programme. CO CONCEPT carried out the interim evaluation as part of the current GIMB action plan (2018–2025). Many of the recommendations formulated as part of the evaluation have been implemented – this was visible and noticeable at the Journée GIMB. At the end of the current action plan and shortly before its 30th anniversary, it is clear that GIMB has continued to grow over the years – whether through measures such as cinema commercials or written guidance on balanced nutrition and promoting physical activity in many areas and stages of life. GIMB has experienced a lot in 30 years – just think of what the years of the Covid-19 pandemic have meant for health promotion and prevention. GIMB has always been active over the years, as impressively demonstrated by the GIMB Committee's well-founded regular activity reports.

The Journée GIMB 2025 once again demonstrated how effectively interministerial cooperation, scientific support and practical implementation can work together.

The following government representatives were present to promote a healthy, active and liveable Luxembourg:

  • Martine Deprez, Minister for Health and Social Security
  • Claude Meisch, Minister for Education, Children and Youth, Housing and Spatial Planning
  • Max Hahn, Minister for Family, Solidarity, Cohesion and Reception
  • Georges Mischo, Minister for Sport and Labour

All ministers emphasised that exercise and a balanced diet are important from birth and must be supported politically – whether through awareness-raising, targeted motivational incentives or the expansion of physical education classes in schools.

Health Minister Martine Deprez also pointed out that a national nutrition strategy is currently being prepared in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture. In addition, exercise is to be prescribed by doctors in future – an important step towards establishing physical activity as an integral part of prevention.

The Journée GIMB programme offered a diverse mix of specialist presentations, hands-on activities and Q&A sessions.
